Originally established in 1956 Eagle Band probably is one of the oldest of its kind in traditional jazz-arena in Denmark.
Eagle Band develop a light and cheerfull New Orleans Sound basicly preferring kompositions by Armstrong, Oliver and Morton, and we play several rare and pretty difficult pieces of music on which we believe few other similar bands would attempt playing. On top of that a lot of various classical jazznumbers like Basin Street Blues and Down By the Riverside form natural part of the bands repertoire.
Eagle Band, in a way considered an institution in the Danish jazz scenario, has performed in several jazzclubs all over the country. Furthermore the band has recorded a couple of albums, one with the wellknown British clarinettist Cy Laurie.
Eagle Band has played on radio and television and taken part in several festivals such as Silkeborg and Langeland in Denmark, Berlin in Germany, San Sebastian in Spain, Breda in Holland and St. Raphael in France.
Eagle Band comprises 8 individuals whose enthusiasm and delight of playing in the band most certainly have been maintained and if anything increased over the years. We are surely looking forward to carry on playing our happy jazz for many years to come for the benefit and joy of our many loyal fans.
